Description
These stepper drivers are built around TI's DRV8825 stepper driver IC. The DRV8825 supports higher currents than the common A4988, making it a popular choice when a little extra grunt is required.
The DRV8825 features up to 1/32 micro-stepping – meaning your printer will be not only precise but also quiet!
These drivers are made in the Pololu-style 'stepstick' footprint. They are compatible with any control board that accepts this footprint, including RAMPS and RUMBA+. They come with the headers already soldered in place, and also come complete with a small heatsink, with adhesive already attached. Perfect!
For ideal performance, the heatsink should be attached to the copper area on the bottom of the driver, and not on top of the driver IC.
Please note: Compared to A4988 stepper drivers, DRV8825 drivers sit 'reversed', with the potentiometer facing the opposite end of the socket - see the image with A4988 drivers for a comparison.
