Mark2 Power Wiring Kit
We had a bunch of custom wiring harnesses made up to make our Mark2 3D Printers easier and tidier to assemble. These cables could also be used for a lot of other printer builds, so we're now making them available on their own.
This kit includes three different pieces:
Switchable and Fused IEC Socket
This is a panel-mount socket that fits a standard IEC C13 cable - commonly called a 'kettle' plug, used for PCs, some TVs, and plenty of other household appliances. This socket makes it easy to connect your printer via one of these cables, so you can quickly disconnect and reconnect it if needed. The illuminated switch makes it easy to turn the printer on or off, and makes it easy to quickly see if the printer has power. Finally, the included fuse provides an extra layer of protection in the event that something goes wrong.
We have two different types of IEC sockets on hand. They both function identically, but have the pins in a different layout on the back. Refer to the product images for wiring.
Mains Wiring Harness
This is a short (~150mm) set of wires with spade connectors on one end to suit the IEC Socket, and fork connectors on the other to suit an LED-style power supply. This means there's no crimping required, and no loose strands of wire to worry about - everything is fixed in place firmly.
Because this cable is fairly short, you'll need to have the socket mounted quite close to the power supply. Please see how the two are mounted in our Mark2 Printer for an indication here.
12V Wiring Harness
This is a longer (~700mm) set of wires with four fork connectors on one end to suit the LED-style power supply, and four pin connectors on the other end to suit PCB screw terminals - such as those found on a RAMPS board, along with most other common printer control boards. The wires are enclosed in a mesh material to keep them tidy. On the control-board side, two additional smaller pin connectors are broken out - these can be used for auxiliary power, for instance, to run an always-on fan, or to power one of our fan control boards, such as TinyFan or MightyFan.
Note: Power supply and Australian IEC mains cable are not included, but we do have these available in the shop if you'd like!
